The pickup truck struck Boyer at the edge of the roadway, according to the Highway Patrol, before she was pronounced dead at the scene by Newton County Coroner Dale Owen at 8:41 p.m.
The toddler — also from Seneca — was transported by EMS to Mercy Hospital in Joplin, and he sustained “minor” injuries, per the crash report.
According to authorities, Hann’s vehicle was towed from the scene with “moderate” damage. CBS affiliate KOAM reported that Granby Fire, Granby Police, Newton County Deputies and Newton County Ambulance responded to the scene and Boyer died at the scene after authorities attempted life-saving measures.
Other local outlets including NBC affiliate KYTV and local radio station KTTN-FM were among the first to report the news.
Boyer’s relationship with the toddler was not made clear in the crash report, and it is also unclear if any arrests were made in the incident.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Newton County Sheriff’s Office and Granby Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for more information on Friday, Nov. 1.
According to KYTV, a fatal crash involving a child previously took place in a similar location on Oct. 10, when a boy failed to stop at a stop sign while riding his bike and was hit by an SUV.
The collision took place on Cole Street near Pine Street, per KOAM, and the 10-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene after responders attempted life-saving measures.
