Why wasn’t Jeremy Allen White at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards?

Fans were wondering where the 33-year-old actor was on Sunday, Jan. 5, as he was not in attendance at the Beverly Hilton Hotel to accept his win for best performance by a male actor in a television series — musical or comedy for The Bear. He beat out Adam Brody, Ted Danson, Steve Martin, Jason Segel and Martin Short to take home the prize.

PEOPLE can confirm that White was not in L.A. for the awards show because he was instead on the opposite coast due to his filming schedule for the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic, Deliver Me From Nowhere.

A Monday, Jan. 6 post from celebrity gossip site Deux Moi also confirmed that White is in New York City, as a fan shared that they met the “super sweet” actor while he was filming and he said he “wishes he could’ve been” at the Globes with his costars.

After announcing the nominees and winner, presenter Jennifer Coolidge revealed that White was not in attendance and she would “accept the award on his behalf.”

White’s win marks his third consecutive victory at the Globes, following up his 2023 and 2024 wins for his leading role as Chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto on The Bear.

At last year’s show, the Shameless alum gave a sweet shoutout to his daughters Ezer and Dolores, who he shares with ex-wife Addison Timlin, as he said, “Ezer and Dolores, you are my heart. I love you. I love you. I love you.”

The release of the FX series’ third season in June saw the same onslaught of award nominations as the previous two, and White also took home the win at the Emmy Awards in September.

In his speech, he said that the show “has changed my life,” as he said of his costars, including Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, “I want us to be in each other’s lives forever.”

Following the win, he began preparing to take on the role of Springsteen and he said he was “pretty excited to start” the process as he revealed the singer had been “really lovely and supportive and available” in the lead-up to filming.

“[The support] has made this whole process, I think, such an extra joy that we have his support and Jon Landau — his manager’s — support, who has a large role in the film as well. So I feel really lucky,” he told reporters in the Emmys press room.

Soon after filming began in October, Springsteen visited the set of the biopic, which will chronicle the making of his 1982 album Nebraska, and is adapted from Warren Zanes’ 2003 rock biography, Deliver Me From Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska.

He later praised the actor, who he said “sings very well,” during an appearance on SiriusXM’s E Street Radio, as he said there’s a “tremendous cast of people” involved.

“They cast the film beautifully, so it’s very exciting,” Springsteen said, and while it was “a little bit” weird at first to see an actor playing him, the singer said he was able to get over that “pretty quick.”

“Jeremy is such a terrific actor that you just fall right into it. He’s got an interpretation of me that I think the fans will deeply recognize and he’s just done a great job, so I’ve had a lot of fun. I’ve had a lot of fun being on the set when I can get there.”
