HGTV stars Christina Haack, Tarek El Moussa and Heather Rae El Moussa recently proved that they can laugh at themselves — and their unconventional professional situation.

In an Instagram Live stream on Wednesday, Jan. 29, the trio sat down to answer fan questions about their new HGTV series, The Flip Off, which follows Christina, 41, as she competes in a house-flipping competition against her ex-husband, Tarek, 43, and his wife, Heather, 37.

Near the end of the stream — which aired moments before the show’s premiere — a fan asked the reality stars what their plans were for the night. “We’re hosting a premiere party at our house!” Heather said enthusiastically before quickly correcting herself, adding, “Not our house — at Christina’s house.”

“We all live here! It’s our new show coming out,” joked Tarek.

The three TV personalities, who were already giggling, began laughing even harder when they saw a live comment from a fan that read “Three’s Company” — a reference to the classic sitcom about roommates Janet, Chrissy and Jack and their constant misadventures.

The trio are no strangers to commentary about their close working relationship. During a promotional interview for HGTV shared to Instagram on Jan. 18, Tarek read a fan comment encouraging them to “just go your separate ways.”

“We have children!!” Christina explained with a laugh, adding, “We’re stuck together forever!”

“What do you want me to do? I got two kids with her [motioning to Christina]. I got one kid with her [motioning to Heather]. I’m stuck in the middle!” Tarek joked.

Tarek shares daughter Taylor, 14, and son Brayden, 9, with Christina. He also shares son Tristan, 2, with Heather.

The Flip Off was initially slated as a series in which Heather and Tarek would compete against Christina and her husband, Josh Hall. However, the premise was adjusted slightly after Josh, 44, filed for divorce from Christina in July 2024.

Promotions for the competition show have since solely featured Christina, Tarek and Heather, and HGTV stated in a December 2024 release that Christina would finish out the season working with a “trusted team” as opposed to a single partner.

In a recent exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Christina shared that she “knew” her marriage to Josh wouldn’t last shortly after they began filming the new series together. She also revealed that she had been confiding in both Tarek and Heather about the tension in her marriage, so the split did not necessarily come as a surprise to them.

“Honestly, her well being is very important to us,” Tarek told PEOPLE. “Not just because of her, but because of the kids, too, right? So ultimately, we are all family and it’s hard to see her got through a challenging situation.”

“I know you [Christina] really put in the effort, and in the end it just wasn’t a good place for her or the kids, so I think they’re all in a better place now,” he added.
