Peyton List’s 2 Brothers: All About Actors Spencer and Phoenix List (and Why They Doubted the ‘Cobrai Kai’ Star’s Karate Skills At First)

Peyton List shares a close bond with her brothers, Spencer and Phoenix List.
The Cobra Kai star and her twin brother, Spencer, were born on April 6, 1998, in West Palm Beach, Fla., to parents Suzanne and John List. The family moved to the Brooklyn borough of New York City four years later and welcomed their younger son, Phoenix, on Sept. 18, 2004. When the twins were 13, the family moved to Los Angeles.
Like Peyton, her brothers are also actors. Spencer made a guest appearance on his twin sister’s Disney Channel series Bunk’d, and starred in the 2014 drama Night Has Settled alongside Phoenix, who had a small role.
During a 2022 appearance on the Dhar & Jay Show podcast, Peyton shared that she’s very close with her brothers — even though they’re not great at keeping each other’s secrets.
“My brothers and I will confide in each other, and then our parents will know everything that we’ve each told each other. So, I think with my siblings, we’re pretty bad at that,” she said. “Our family is just so open.”

Peyton and Spencer were born 10 minutes apart on April 6, 1998, per Teen Vogue.
In 2016, the actress told Sweety High that Spencer is her “built-in best friend,” and she trusts him “more than anyone.”
“Once I was having an especially rough day and was really emotional,” Peyton said. “Spencer was across town filming and just randomly started feeling upset because he could feel something was wrong with me.”
She added, “I feel we will always have a deeper connection and we can read each other without saying anything. I don’t know if that is because we have spent so much time together our entire lives or because we are twins.”

Peyton isn’t the only actor in her family. Spencer appeared on a few episodes of The Fosters and its spin-off show, Good Trouble. He’s also starred in films such as Foreclosure, Exploited and She Came from the Woods.
Phoenix has also had a few acting roles. He appeared in two episodes of the TV show Vegas with Dennis Quaid and acted alongside Spencer in Night Has Settled, per IMDb.

During a 2019 appearance on the podcast Livin’ Large w/ Mark Dohner, Peyton shared the story of how her brother Spencer was scouted by agents on the Staten Island Ferry in New York.
“These agents approached my brother … on the Staten Island Ferry in New York and were like, ‘This kid has it. He’s so handsome. We want to sign him,’ ” she said. “My mom brought us both into the agents, and my brother’s just kind of always been the one that’s super chill, and I’m like, ‘I would love to do this, hi.’ And they were just saying, ‘Yeah, we don’t need girls. We just want him.’ ”
Peyton said the pair’s mother gave the agents an ultimatum, saying that if both of her children weren’t signed, they would walk away.
The agents committed to signing Peyton and Spencer, which kickstarted their acting careers.

The twins have shared the screen together on a few occasions. When they were children, they were cast in Spider-Man 2. Peyton told Dohner they played “the kids on the stairs” in one scene, which was ultimately cut from the film.
They later appeared together in the 2010 horror flick Bereavement and the 2018 fantasy-drama Anthem of a Teenage Prophet. Spencer also guest starred in a 2016 episode of Peyton’s Disney Channel show, Bunk’d.

The List siblings share a strong bond with each other. They often document their outings together on Instagram, including going on hikes and attending Coachella in 2023.
In August 2019, Spencer congratulated Peyton on the release of her music video for the song “Don’t Cry” and praised her hard work.
“I love this song and my twin👀,” he wrote in a post on Instagram. “Pey came up with the concept and got this amazing crew together to film this video. I never doubt your work ethic and I’m telling you this is just the beginning. Congrats pey, proud of you always🙏.”
For Phoenix’s birthday in September 2021, Peyton shared a sweet tribute to her younger brother on Instagram.
“happy birthday baby bro. thanks for letting me dress you up always,” she wrote in the caption. “love you so much. 🌙.”

On the Dare We Say podcast, Peyton shared that she and Spencer are “so different” and had a brother-sister rivalry when they were kids.
“We were super competitive, but then, like, we got put on a basketball team together, so that kind of like formed a different bond,” she said.
After learning karate for her role in Cobra Kai, Peyton told Schön! Magazine in September 2022 that she’s only used the karate skills on her brothers because they didn’t believe she could do it.
“They were giving me s— when I came home, saying: ‘No you can’t do any of it! Come on,’ ” she said. “I feel like I can actually fight them properly now, which is a dream come true. I’m so much more aware of what’s a weapon now.”
