SPANX founder Sara Blakely is living her own version of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

In a new Instagram post published on Wednesday, April 2, Blakely, 54, revealed that she loaned her wedding dress to brides in need nine times. The video montage featured pictures of each of the brides wearing the dress in unique ways, dubbing it “the story of the sisterhood of the traveling wedding dress.”

“I love the idea of one dress having different stories to tell of love and shared sisterhood. It’s a dress filled with good karma. 🌟 I feel a special tie to each and every woman who has worn it so far…. Nataly, Julie, LJ, Renata, Carmin, Loren, Stephanie, Jenna, and Shellie! What do you think… should we expand the sisterhood this year??” Blakely wrote on Instagram.

Blakely did previously announce that she would loan her dress out to brides impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, but said that the tradition started much earlier than 2020 in her latest Instagram post. Now, she hopes to keep the dress traveling to new brides.

Blakely, who founded SPANX in 2000, is no stranger to helping the brides in her life. In 2023, she confirmed that she was a bridesmaid 13 times before marrying her husband, Jesse Itzler, at age 37.

Now a mother of four, Blakely continues to use her brand to elevate women’s stories. Blakely previously went viral in 2021 for gifting her team of primarily women-employees two first-class tickets to a destination of their choice.

After sharing her wedding dress story, Blakely put out a call to action for new brides impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires of 2025 and the North Carolina floods amid Hurricane Helene in September 2024.

In addition to SPANX, Blakely also founded Sneex, a unique sneaker heel design brand.
