Maya Hawke stepped out for a night on Broadway with her boyfriend Christian Lee Hutson, marking the couple’s red carpet debut.

Hawke, 26, attended the opening night of John Proctor Is the Villain in support of her Stranger Things costar Sadie Sink at New York City’s Booth Theater. Hutson, 34, accompanied the actress to the theatrical premiere. Hawke wore a pleated skirt paired with a collared sweater, leather trench coat, and Prada loafers. Hutson donned a sporty, casual look with a denim-on-denim outfit paired with a brown turtleneck and white Converse sneakers.

The couple met four years ago through their work in the music industry. Hutson is known for his indie folk music style and collaborations with Phoebe Bridgers, whom he supported on her 2021 Reunion tour.

The musical couple collaborated on Hawke’s 2024 album Chaos Angel, featuring the notable single “Missing Out.” In July 2024, Hawke opened up about working with her boyfriend on the Zach Sang Show.

“It is awesome. I mean, I cannot recommend highly enough dating your friends. It’s the best. They know you, and as a human being who has dated other people. They really know you as a person who has feelings … not just a piece of paper for them to project their image of perfect girlfriend onto,” the actress told host Zach Sang.

Hawke first costarred with Sink, 22, on Stranger Things in 2017, when both actresses joined the cast. Several other Stranger Things cast members walked the carpet in support of Sink, including Natalia Dyer, Finn Wolfhard and Gaten Matarazzo.

Sink stars as high school student Shelby Holcomb in John Proctor Is the Villain. The play, written by Kimberly Belflower and directed by Tony Award winner Danya Taymor, follows a group of Georgia high school students reading Arthur Miller’s classic Salem Witch Trials play The Crucible.

The play sees the students “as they delve into the American classic, the students begin to question the play’s perspective and the validity of naming John Proctor the show’s hero,” according to an official synopsis. The show marks Sink’s third Broadway credit.

At opening night, Sink exclusively told PEOPLE, “Kimberly’s writing is so brilliant and truly captures teenagers and such an authentic light and deals with some uncomfortable topics, but in such a digestible, honest way.”

The actress continued, “So I’m incredibly more proud of our team and the message that this show has.”

The fifth and final season of Stranger Things has wrapped production and will premiere on Netflix later this year with an exact date to be announced, per Tudum.
