Ariana Grande Says Glinda’s Glam in ‘Wicked’ Changed Her ‘Entire Relationship’ with Makeup: ‘Love, Love, Love’

Ariana Grande has embraced the Glindafication that has come with being in Wicked — including all her glam.

In a new Instagram video shared on Nov. 7, the actress, 31, pulled back the curtain on her getting-ready process for getting Glinda-fied while filming. This included putting on makeup, installing a wig and even covering a few of her tattoos.

When the process started, she joked with the hair and makeup team that she takes the “least amount of time” to get ready for filming (which they agreed with) and even did some of her own makeup.

But it was when Grande candidly shared how much she has fully embraced her character into her life that she allowed fans to see how deeply she loves her character. As a beauty girlie, Grande said that she’s even changed her perspective on how she does her own makeup altogether.

“Glinda’s makeup kinda made me transform my entire look and my entire relationship to makeup. I just love it so much. Love, love, love,” she gushed.

Grande went on to describe the makeup her character wears in the Jon M. Chu-directed movie, out Nov. 22, saying, “There’s no, like, thick eyeliner. There’s no, like, heavy crease. It’s just, like, really warm and open and pretty and, you know, the lashes are in, like, a cat shape, which still gives you the, like, cat eye lift that I usually love, but it’s also just a more honest representation of what you look like. It’s just like, oh this is an eye.” 

Previously, Grande teased that products from her own brand, r.e.m. beauty, would be used in Wicked.

“Glinda wears a few things,” Grande shared in a YouTube video in April 2023. “I told my beautiful makeup artist, Nuria, who I love with all my heart, I said, ‘I don’t want to go into this with any sort of rules or requests; I want us to find her from the ground up. I want to just sit down and let you play and we’ll find her together.'”

She went on to say that she and the team were finding Glinda “together” while filming and she didn’t want to reveal quite yet what products the good witch was wearing — but all would be revealed in due time.
